Bangladesh does not want to host the Asia Cup

Asia Cup 2023 is to be held in Pakistan. But as India refused to go there, it was proposed to change the venue of the Asia Cup. And although the Asia Cup is being organized in Pakistan, India has proposed to play the matches in the United Arab Emirates. In the end, the name of Bangladesh could have come there if Pakistan had not been the host of the Asia Cup. But Bangladesh has not shown any interest in this matter.

BCB President Nazmul Hasan Papon faced the journalists after this meeting about the venue. He said, “The host of the Asia Cup was Pakistan. But that has been changed now. But the venue has not been finalized yet. Since Pakistan is the official host, the next venue will be decided by them. There is a meeting of ICC next March. Also, there will be a meeting of ACC. And hopefully, we can confirm the Asia Cup venue there.”

If the Asia Cup is not in Pakistan, then the other options can be the United Arab Emirates or Bangladesh. But Bangladesh has not shown any interest in this matter. Papon said, “If the Asia Cup will not be held in Pakistan, then the name of Bangladesh can come there. But Asia Cup in Bangladesh is not possible in any way. Because there is a lot of rain at that time. Even if it is in T20 format, risk can be taken. But Asia Cup will be organized in an ODI format. So it is not possible for us to host the Asia Cup at that time. The venue of the Asia Cup will be in some other country.”

Meanwhile, BCCI confirmed that India is not going to Pakistan in any way. A BCCI official said in an interview with the media, “Constructive discussions were held in the meeting. Representatives of all countries were present. And it can be said for sure, India will not go to Pakistan to play in the Asia Cup. That’s why the venue will be shifted. If Kohli, Rohit, and Gilra do not play in such competitions then the sponsors will not come. That is why there is no room for opposition.”

Meanwhile, PCB did not respond even after proposing to move the venue from Pakistan in the meeting. According to Indian media sources, the financial crisis is already going on in Pakistan cricket. Among them, if the Asia Cup is organized, there may be more possibility of financial losses. But if the venue is changed, on the contrary, Pakistan will have more revenue potential. At the end of all the speculations, it is now a matter of seeing where the Asia Cup will be held in the end.
