AUS vs WI (1st Test) – Highlights

The 2-match Test series between Australia and the West Indies began on Wednesday, November 30 at the Perth Stadium in Australia. In the 1st match of that series, Australia made a huge run, thanks to a pair of double centuries in the first innings. After that, West Indies went down to bat in the 1st innings, and before playing 100 overs they were wrapped up by the Aussie bowlers. Then Australia came to bat in the 2nd innings, and they declared after batting for some time. But in the 2nd innings, West Indies lost all wickets again. As a result, they left the field with a huge run margin and a loss. On the other hand, Australia took a step towards winning the series by winning the 1st match. Apart from this, Marnus Labuschagne won the Man of the Match title by scoring a double century.

After winning the toss and batting on the first day of the Test, the hosts collected 293 runs after losing 2 wickets. Marnus Labuschagne was unbeaten on 154 runs. Steven Smith was batting on 59 runs. Before that, however, Australia was in some danger when David Warner returned to the dressing room for just 5 runs. But Usman Khawaja and Marnus Labuschagne overcame that danger to lay the foundation for a big score. The two made a partnership of 142 runs. Usman Khawaja was dismissed for 65 runs after playing 149 balls. It had 5 boundaries and 1 six. 

After that Marnus Labuschagne and Steven Smith stuck to the wicket like glue with the bat. They made a huge pair of 251 runs. In the meantime, Labuschagne scored a double century. When Labuchen got out after the team scored 402 runs, 204 runs were adorning his name. 

Then Steven Smith formed a pair with Travis Head. They made a huge pair of 196 runs. On the other hand, Captain Pat Cummins was waiting for the innings announcement. For this, he was waiting for Smith’s double and head’s century. Steven Smith completed the double century, but only 99 runs were made by Travis Head. After playing 95 balls, he got out for 99 runs. He did not get the century for 1 run.

Smith scored his 29th career Test century. It was his fourth double-century innings. Aussie captain Pat Cummins announced the innings with 598 runs for 4 wickets after Smith’s double century.

In response, West Indies scored 283 runs in 98.2 overs, losing 10 wickets. Kraigg Brathwaite (64) scored the most runs for them. Tagenarine Chanderpaul scored 51 runs, Jermaine Blackwood scored 36 runs, and Shamarh Brooks scored 33 runs. Besides, no one else could score such a run. At the end of their 1st innings, they were on the trail of 315 runs.

After coming down to bat in the 2nd innings, losing 2 wickets after playing 37 overs and scoring 182 runs, the Australian captain announced the innings again. Marnus Labuchen scored the most runs for them in that innings. He scored 104 runs off 110 balls with 13 fours and 2 sixes. Besides, David Warner scored 48 runs.

At the end, the target for West Indies stood at 497 runs. In reply they could score 333 runs in 110.5 overs losing 10 wickets. As a result, they have to leave the field with a huge loss of 164 runs. Captain Kraigg Brathwaite scored the most runs for them in that innings. He scored 110 runs off 188 balls. Besides Chanderpaul 45, Roston Chase 55, and Alzarri Joseph scored 43 runs.

The most successful bowlers for Australia were Nathan Lyon, Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins.
