AUS vs NZ (2nd ODI) – Highlights

Yesterday morning, Australia and New Zealand met in the 2nd of the three-match ODI series. Australia batted first and set a target of around 200 for New Zealand. But chasing that target, New Zealand collapsed before 100 runs. Along with that, Australia won the match and took the series away with them. On the other hand, Mitchell Starc got the man of the match title due to his good batting and bowling.

The first one-day match was a hard-fought battle. However, in the end, Australia won by 2 wickets. Cameron Green and Alex Carey combined to secure that victory. But on Thursday all credit goes to the bowlers. The Kiwi batters were collapsed by the power of Australian bowlers.

New Zealand won the toss and put Australia in to bat in Cairns. Batting first, David Warner, Aaron Finch, and others were left the field quickly by the Kiwi bowlers.

Aussies lost 4 wickets for 26 runs. They lost 5 wickets for 54 runs. Aaron Finch (0 from 2), David Warner (5 from 11), Marnus (5 from 12), Marcus Stoinis (0 from 6), and Alex Carey (12 from 28).

Steven Smith scored the highest run for them. He scored 61 off 94 balls. He also hit 5 fours and 1 six. And Mitchell Starc came down to bat at number nine and played the responsible innings of 38 runs off 45 balls. He also hit 2 fours and 1 six. Besides, Glenn Maxwell scored 25 runs off 50 balls. Sean Abbott scored 7 runs off 15 balls. Adam Zampa scored 16 runs off 21 balls with the help of 2 fours.

Josh Hazlewood came down to bat at number 11 and scored an unbeaten 23 off 16 balls. Australia’s score somehow reached 195 for 9 in the allotted 50 overs at Tennetun, relying on the two tail-enders.

Trent Boult took 4 wickets for 38 runs in 10 overs for New Zealand. Matt Henry took 3 wickets for 33 runs in 10 overs. Tim Southee and Mitchell Santner took 1 wicket each.

A target of only 196 runs. A very modest target in a 50-over match. But 196 runs were far away, the New Zealand cricket team could not even score 100 runs. All out for just 82 runs.

In the second ODI match, the bowlers of both teams showed their charisma. Overshadowing each other, the batters were beaten on the field of battle. However, New Zealand’s Trent Boult and Matt Henry were overtaken by Australia’s Adam Zampa, Mitchell Starc, and Sean Abbott. As a result, Zampa and Co. gave victory to Australia by 113 runs after taking all the wickets of New Zealand for just 82 runs.

None of the Kiwi batsmen could stay at the crease as they chased the runs. No batsman could cross the 20-run barrier. New Zealand got all out in just 33 overs under the power of Zampa. Skipper Kane Williamson scored the highest 17 runs among the Kiwi batsmen. Besides, Mitchell Santner remained unbeaten on 16. The condition of the rest is not worth mentioning. Most of the players returned to the dressing room with 2 runs or 5 runs.

Spinner Zampa himself took 5 wickets for Australia. Starc and Abbott took 2 wickets each. Marcus Stoinis took 1 wicket. Australia won the second match by 113 runs and pocketed the series. This time, Australia has a chance to whitewash the Kiwis as well by winning the third and last ODI.
