Guyana Amazon Warriors vs Jamaica Tallawahs (Match 25) – Highlights

Guyana Amazon Warriors have cruised to an impressive 12-run win over Jamaica Tallawahs courtesy of Odean Smith’s outstanding all-round performance in the 25th match of the CPL 2022 at the Providence Stadium in Guyana. Odean Smith was selected as the player of the match as he first played a stormy inning of 42 runs from 16 balls with the bat and scalped 2 wickets for 26 runs in 1.5 overs with the ball later.

Jamaica Tallawahs captain Rovman Powell won the toss and elected to field first. Guyana Amazon Warriors had to bat first as a result of that. Guyana Amazon Warriors collected a fighting score of 178 runs after losing 8 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. However, Jamaica Tallawahs’ batter Brandon King scored a century in pursuit of the target, but his team was bowled out for 166 runs with one ball left in the innings.

The two openers of Guyana Amazon Warriors Chandrapaul Hemraj and Rahmanullah Gurbaz did not get off to a good start coming down to bat. Gurbaz hit a golden duck and Hemraj returned to the dressing room with 13 runs off 13 balls. After the departure of Hemraj, the world’s best all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan came to the wicket to play the first match of this season. But he scored a golden duck.

Shai Hope took the helm of the struggling team after losing 3 wickets for 35 runs. Despite not getting a suitable partner, he continued to lead the team by keeping one end of the wicket safe. He scored 60 off 45 balls with 4 fours and 3 sixes when he was bowled by Mohammad Nabi, the team’s score was 97/6 at that time. After another run, Gudakesh Motie (2) went back to the dugout.

Then it seemed that the team score of Guyana Amazon Warriors might not cross 140 runs. But Odean Smith and Keemo Paul made an incredible partnership of 74 runs off 26 balls for the 8th wicket. Smith returned to the pavilion with a devastating knock of 42 off 16 balls with one ball to spare in the innings. In his 42-run innings, there were no boundaries, but there were 6 over-boundaries.

On the other hand, Keemo Paul remained undefeated by playing a stormy inning of 24 runs from 12 balls with an equal number of 2 fours and sixes. Junior Sinclair remained unbeaten for 6 runs after coming to the wicket with the last ball. Mohammad Nabi took the highest number of 3 wickets for Jamaica Tallawahs. Besides, Chris Green took 2 wickets, and Imad Wasim, Fabian Allen, and Rovman Powell took 1 wicket each.

Chasing the challenging target of 179 runs, Jamaica Tallawahs opener Brandon King scored a brilliant century. However, even though he played all the impeccable shots at one end of the wicket to take the team forward, no one could give him worthy company. Apart from King, only Kenner Lewis (13) and Kirk McKenzie (15) could score double figures. As a result, despite scoring a century, Brandon King failed to take the team to the port of victory.

Jamaica Tallawahs needed 61 runs from the last 5 overs. They had 6 wickets in hand. At such a time Shakib came to bowl his last over and gave only 2 runs. He picked up the wicket of Fabian Allen (1) as well. But King put up a great fight. When Jamaica Tallawahs needed 20 runs in the last over, King hit Odean Smith for a six off the first ball.

He smashed the century off 64 balls. But King could not fulfill his team’s goals even though he fulfilled the landmark of scoring an individual 3-digit score. He gave a dot in the next ball and got trapped in the third ball for run-out and returned to the pavilion. He played an impeccable inning of 104 off 66 deliveries hitting 8  fours and 7 sixes. After losing 2 more wickets in two consecutive balls, Jamaica Tallawahs were stopped at 166 runs.

For Guyana Amazon Warriors, Imran Tahir, Gudakesh, and Smith took 2 wickets each and Shakib took 1 wicket. Guyana Amazon Warriors are still at the bottom of the points table despite getting their 2nd win of the season by winning this match. On the other hand, Jamaica Tallawahs are still third in the points table after losing this match.

PAK vs ENG (1st T20I) – Highlights

After 17 years, the visiting England had got a win on Pakistan soil. In the first T20I of the seven-match series, the visitors went down to bat in response to the 158 runs target given by the host Pakistan and won by 6 wickets with 4 balls in hand. The anointed Luke Wood was selected as the player of the match after picking up 3 wickets at the cost of 24 runs in 4 overs.

England captain Moeen Ali invited Pakistan to bat first after winning the toss in Karachi. Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan gave the team a great start. The Men in Green scored 85 runs off 57 balls in the opening pair.

Babar scored 31 runs off 24 balls before being bowled by Adil Rashid’s googly. Haider Ali, who got a chance in one-down, could not score more than 11 runs facing 13 balls. However, the English bowlers held the hosts well at times. As a result, Pakistan’s middle order lost its rhythm once again.

On the one hand, Mohammad Rizwan kept the innings ongoing, but in the 15th over he was stumped by England captain Moeen Ali and returned to the pavilion after scoring 68 runs off 46 balls. Rizwan’s innings had 6 fours and 2 sixes.

After the departure of Rizwan, the next batsmen could not shine much. Except for Iftikhar Ahmed’s innings of 28 runs off 17 balls, none of the others could make a double-digit score. Shan Masood scored 7 runs in 7 balls in his T20I debut. He was only able to hit Moeen over extra cover for a four. Later he was caught out while trying to play a reverse sweep off Rashid.

Pakistan could not score more than 71 runs in the last 10 overs due to middle-order failure. As a result, the hosts’ innings stopped at 158 runs after losing 7 wickets in the scheduled 20 overs. Apart from Luke Wood, Adil Rashid took 2 wickets conceding 27 runs in 4 overs for England. Besides, Sam Curran and Moeen Ali took 1 wicket each.

Coming down to chase the runs, the new opening pair of Philp Salt and Alex Hales collectively made 19 runs, 10 runs from 10 balls came from the bat of Salt and he was caught by Haider at deep square leg off Shahnawaz Dahani’s ball. However, the speed of runs in the powerplay did not slow down for England, they collected 47 runs after losing one wicket in 6 overs. After that, Usman Qadir sent Dawid Malan back to the pavilion, scoring 20 runs in 15 balls.

England’s next wicket was also picked up by this Pakistani leg spinner. Ben Duckett scored 21 runs off 17 balls and got out with an lbw coming down to play after almost three and a half years in this edition. However, Hales survived with a simple catch at wide long-on by Masood for a personal 28 runs before this.

Hales’ fourth-wicket partnership with Harry Brook brought 55 off 35 balls for the team. Hales completed his fifty off 39 balls by hitting Harris Rauf for a four, where he hit a total of 7 four. However, he returned to the pavilion on the very next ball.

However, the visitors did not have a problem with that. Brook didn’t let that happen. He remained unbeaten on 42 off 25 balls and accompanied by Moeen (9), the Englishman secured the victory with 4 balls to spare. England is touring Pakistan after 17 years and they’ve made the first match so memorable that it will be special for Hales-Wood as well.

For Pakistan, Usman Qadir took the maximum number of 2 wickets and Haris Rauf and Shahnawaz Dahani took 1 wicket each. The two teams will face each other in the 2nd match of the series on Thursday (September 22) at the same venue and time.

IND vs AUS (1st T20I) – Highlights

Australia and India met in the first match of the three-match T20 series yesterday. Batting first there, India set a huge target with the stormy batting of Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul. But chasing that target, Australia reached the target before the allotted 20 overs were over. As a result, India had to leave the field with a loss. With that, Australia took a step towards winning the series. On the other hand, Cameron Green got the title of man of the match with great batting.

In the first T20 of the series in Mohali, India got a capital of 208 runs for 6 wickets with Suryakumar’s 46 runs, half-centuries from Lokesh Rahul and Hardik Pandya. After winning the toss, Australian captain Aaron Finch urged India to bat. In beginning, Australia had a good start. They picked up two wickets for 35 runs. Virat Kohli could not pull off the Asia Cup form. Once again stuck in the circle of failure. He made 2 runs from 7 balls and Captain Rohit Sharma did not get big runs. He scored 11 runs from 9 balls with the help of 1 four and 1 six.

But no profit was made. Despite the failure of two big stars, India put up a huge collection against Australia. Suryakumar Yadav and Lokesh Rahul put on 68 runs off 42 balls for the third wicket. Rahul scored 55 runs off 35 balls with 4 boundaries and 3 sixes and got out by Hazelwood.

On the other hand, the astounding Surya returned just before his fifty (46 off 25 balls with 2 fours and 4 sixes). But after that, Hardik Pandya ran rampant on the Aussie bowlers. The Indian all-rounder hit lots of fours and sixes. He played the unbeaten innings of 71 runs from 30 balls, which included 7 fours and 5 sixes. Apart from this, Axar Patel scored 6 runs, Dinesh Karthik 6 runs, and Harshal Patel scored 7 runs.

Australia’s Nathan Ellis took 3 wickets for 30 runs and Josh Hazlewood took 2 wickets for 39 runs. Besides, Cameron Green also took 1 wicket. The target is 209 runs. In T20 which is almost impossible. But the way Australia played, this goal seemed trivial. Australia chased the huge collection of India in the first T20 of the series in Mohali. Chasing 209 runs, Aaron Finch’s team won by 4 wickets and 4 balls in hand.

Cameron Green, Australia’s opening batsman, laid the groundwork for the run chase. He played the devastating innings of 61 runs off 30 balls with 8 fours and 4 sixes. In the game, he had a 203.33 strike rate! Australia scored 60 runs for 1 wicket in the power play. At the end of 10 overs, runs were 109 for 1 wicket. Then India gave a big blow. Aussies lost 4 more wickets in between 36 runs.

However, it did not benefit the hosts. Matthew Wade became aggressive with the bat. Together with Singaporean batsman Tim David, who played his first game for Australia today, Wade scored 62 runs off 30 balls for the sixth wicket. David was out for 18 off 14 balls with the team needing 2 runs to win in the last over. But Pat Cummins confirmed the win by hitting Chahal a boundary on the next ball. Wade remained unbeaten on 45 off 21 balls with 6 fours and 2 sixes.
